Lomond Wine Estate in Cape Agulhas South Africa.

Lomond

We met with Wayne Gabb of Lomond who showed us around the vineyards and hosted us at the most unique tasting room we have seen so far on the trip. As you enter the gap in a small forest you realise it has a hollowed out centre providing a tasting room with tables and benches inside.

Being a pioneer estate here for the region of Agulhas they built a damn for the project which has been running only since the early 2000’s. Single vineyard creations are helped here by the fact there are 18 different soil types on the site giving an amazing diversity.

We tasted 7 wines of which our favourite was the Conebush 2013 which is a 100% Syrah (Shiraz).
